Ingredients


2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion, cut into slices

2 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon salt


¾ teaspoon Italian seasoning

¼ teaspoon black pepper

2 cups LACTAID® Fat-Free Lactose-Free Milk

2 cups canned crushed tomatoes in tomato puree

Directions


  1. In a 2 ½-quart saucepan, heat olive oil and sauté onions until golden, about 5 minutes.

  2. Whisk in flour, salt, Italian seasoning and pepper. Cook until flour is absorbed, about 2-5 minutes.

  3. Slowly add LACTAID® Fat-Free Lactose-Free Milk and tomatoes, stirring constantly, heat just to boiling. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  4. If desired, blend smooth using either an immersion blender or an electric blender.

  5. Serve warm.
